AUGUST 17th & 18th 2005
Here is a video made from the August 17th & 18th 2005 swell we had. Derek Bockelman, Zach Rhinehart, Sean Murphy,Vince Alessi, Jaimal Hornbacher, Temujin Matsubara and RAT all had a great session.

I’ve learned a few new things this last swell, for one; we can’t take the entire team to one location because they are too aggressive in the water. Number two; we can’t even take half of them to a public surf spot because they are too aggressive and in unsafe conditions they create the illusion that it’s safe to surf in that area. The third thing is camera guys hanging out also add to the illusion of good safe surfing conditions.

During this swell I personally saw at least five people get rescued, actually it’s four because the long board guy got rescued twice for the same reason. I did get to say farewell to a water photographer before he was swept out to sea. During my wasted water shot session the lifeguards thought they needed to rescue me, I showed them my camera and they drove away. My camera malfunctioned during that session so there won’t be any water shots in this video sorry.

Derek Bockelman
Derek Bockelman, Zach Rhinehart, Vince Alessi, Sean Murphy, Temujin Matsubara, RAT and Scotty doesn’t know are all battling the current and each other for clips. Vince and Zach are both coming back from injuries and still manage to get clips. Derek is just on fire these days and Temujin has his solid snaps plus the air assault. After seeing only half the team surfing in one location I can’t help thinking we have created an excellent team of riders. Straight Out Productions is living its vow to bring you the most insane surfing footage available.
Jaimal Hornboacker hurt himself during this session and has not surfeed with us since. He pulled into a closeout barrel and wrecked his back. Jaimal just got a new board from RAT that day, sometimes that's how it works. Hopefully Jaim's will be back in the water soon.
Sean Murphy did some solid turns during this session, his clean lines worked perfect with this swell. He also did some aerial maneuvers and almost ran Derek Bockelman over. The clips are in the video and pay special attention to how close he comes to Dereks head.
The August 17th swell produced some good waves and some good clips. The riders were surfing excellent even though Vince and Zach are coming back from injuries. There is another swell on the way and we are preparing to take the healthy part of our team somewhere in Baja. This will be a jetski trip.
